Haitian born Hollywood actor, Jimmy Jean-Louis has turned out to be one of Yvonne Nelson's close associates.

The actor is in Ghana at the moment... he came in earlier in the months and we are surprised he hasn't left yet... maybe he has few things he's tidying up in Ghana. 

The actress and the Haitian born actor, have worked on couple of movies together and we heard she plays host to him whenever he visits Ghana.

That explains why Yvonne makes out time to hang out with him more these days, temporarily dumping John Dumelo as we haven't spotted the close pair together recently.

Aide of Govrnor-el​ect Ayo Fayose shot dead in Ekiti

                               

A former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ekiti State and staunch supporter of Mr Ayo Fayose, Mr. Omolafe Aderiye was yesterday evening shot dead by four unknown gunmen at the Ijigbo area of Ado-Ekiti the state capital. 

According to Sahara reporters, Mr Aderiye was accosted and shot at close range while on his way home after a meeting with the governor elect. Panic in Liberian villages as two Ebola victims 'rise from the dead'

                              

Two villages Nimba County in Liberia were have been thrown into panic, fear and confusion after reports that two female Ebola victims have risen from the dead.

According to local reports, 44 year old Dorris Quoi who lived in Hope Village Community and a 67 year old woman identified as Ma Kebeh, died of the Ebola virus and were about to be taken for burial when they resurrected and are now walking among the living.

According to reports in a local newspaper, New Dawn, Ma Kebeh had been indoors for two nights without food and medication before her death, while Dorris had suffered for several weeks before she died alone in her family home. This is the first report of dead Ebola victims resurrecting. Despite some people's reservations about the story being true, it hasn't stopped them from panicking

Nigerian Army confirms Boko Haram leader Shekau is dead

The Defence Headquarters has released a statement claiming to have killed a man posing as the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau (or his impersonator) in an attack (both land and air) in Konduga Borno state between 12nd to 17th September. Find full statement below...

Nigerian troops have been conducting coordinated air and land operations in furtherance of efforts at containing the terrorists in the North East part of the country. Somehow, it became apparent that the terrorists in continuation of their campaign of terror were determined to take over communities around Maiduguri which is their prime target. 

There was therefore the need to ensure that communities such as Konduga were protected. It is noteworthy that the terrorists made not less than four attempts between 12 and 17 September 2014 to violate the security and enter Konduga to perpetrate their atrocities. Air and land forces were subsequently deployed to handle the situation.

 The convoy of combat vehicles typical of terrorists’ mission that involves their top commanders, were fiercely engaged by the land and air forces. Several of the terrorists including some of their commanders lost their lives in the encounters which lasted an average of about 5 hours each. 

The troops captured some of the terrorists and their equipment. In the course of those encounters, one Mohammed Bashir who has been acting or posing on videos as the deceased Abubakar Shekau, the eccentric character known as leader of the group died. Since the name Shekau has become a brand name for the terrorists’ leader, the Nigerian military remains resolute to serve justice to anyone who assumes that designation or title as well as all terrorists that seek to violate the freedom and territory of Nigeria.

On restoring normalcy after the encounter, inhabitants of the community who were victims of terrorists activities corroborated information on the identity of Bashir Mohammed alias Abubakar Shekau, alias Abacha Abdullahi Geidam alias Damasack etc. Indeed, the recent devastation on the leadership of the insurgents is attributable to the renewed commitment to the mission of eradicating terrorism in our country.

Meanwhile, a total of 135 terrorists have yesterday evening surrendered along with equipment to troops around Biu Local Government Area. A group of 88 submitted themselves at Mairiga/Bun – Yadi while another group of 45 terrorists were taken in around Mubi – Michika. They are all being interrogated and processed in conformity with the dictates of standard best practices.

The Defence Headquarters applauds the gallantry of the Nigerian troops who have remained undaunted and professional in prosecuting this campaign against terror. The keen interest exhibited by our neighbours and allies is commendable and we appreciate them. All allies in the war against terrorism are hereby assured of the Nigerian military’s resolve to maintain momentum in the efforts to decimate and defeat terrorists. The invaluable efforts toward achieving sustainable peace and victory against the terrorists are highly appreciated.

Kaduna Killings: Nude Women Barricade Governor’s Convoy

Angered by the recent killings of over 50 persons in their villages, hundreds of half-nude women yesterday protested before the convoy of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero in Sanga local government of Kaduna State, accusing the state government of neglecting to protect their lives and properties.

The half-nude women, dressed in black attire, booed and threw objects at the long convoy of the governor in Fadan Karshi, Sanga local government area.

The women were angry that after not less than seven attacks on their villages, in which not less than 300 villagers were killed since last July, the governor did not visit the place until a few weeks to the primary elections.

Mr Bezard Wuyah, national president of Ninzom Progressive Youths in the local government told reporters in Kaduna about the visit of the governor to Karshin Daji and Fadan Karshi.

“The governor came with hundreds of soldiers, policemen, Roads Safety Corps, SSS, even with a detachment of Prison Guards. It was more of an invasion, not a condolence visit. Our mothers and sisters who were expecting a sober, caring governor were furious when they saw that it was as a form of intimidation against them so they don’t bare their minds on the negligence they had suffered since gunmen sacked their villages and rendered them homeless? That was why they were protesting and asking that the governor kills them so that they die and rest. They refused to be cowed,” he said.

After days of sleeping rough outside flagship stores, eager Apple fans have finally got their hands on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. 

Demand is so high that people have been selling their place in queues for thousands, and Apple has been limiting customers to two phones each.

In London, hundreds of people outside Covent Garden and Regent Street packed away their tents as they jostled to get their hands on the new phones.

Sam Sheikh, 27, based in east London said he’d been waiting there for more than three days to bag his gold coloured iPhone 6 Plus, and was the first customer in the UK to get his phone.
Standing at the front door of the shop he said: 'I’m very excited. I came last week and started queuing with my friends.

'Last time this happened, unfortunately I couldn’t get the phone I wanted. So this time I decided I had to get it...I didn’t want to lose out.'
Security staff kept people inside huge festival style barriers that stretched the entire length of Covent Garden up to the Royal Opera House entrance - some 320 metres.
Mr Sheikh's friend Jameel Ahmed, 26, from Harrow, added that he’s excited to test out his new phone’s features.

'I’m very happy,' he said. 'The last time I queued for it in Regent Street I didn’t get the gold one. 
'I was very sad. This time I’m getting the £699 64GB model. It’s the one I want and I’m looking forward to testing it out.'
Specialist gadget insurer Protect Your Bubble surveyed the queue outside Apple's Regent street in London, which started to form on 8 September - the day before Apple’s launch event in Cupertino. 
It found that 41 per cent of Apple fans were waiting in line for the iPhone 6 Plus, 30 per cent for the iPhone 6, and 29 per cent were queuing for both handsets.

More than a quarter (26 per cent) of queuers said the larger screen on both phones - compared to the screen size of the 4-inch iPhone 5S – was the feature they were most excited about, followed by the new design (18 per cent) and the prospect of longer battery life (18 per cent) as promised by Apple. 
However more than a third (35 per cent) doubted the battery on the new iPhones would last noticeably longer.  
An overwhelming 62 per cent said they would use Apple Pay when it arrives in the UK, although almost a quarter of those surveyed (24 per cent) had never actually heard of the tech giant’s new mobile payment system. 

When asked about the Apple Watch, unveiled at the same event as the iPhones, 53 per cent said they would not buy one when it goes on sale next year.
The queue - which had attracted almost 2,000 people by the time doors opened – was dominated by men, with the ratio of men to women at 8:2.
The average queuing time among the first 100 people in line was 13.5 hours, although the queue formed around 260 hours before doors opened.

One dies as Church building collapses in Edo

                           

A one-storey building which served as offices for pastors belonging to Christ Chosen Church of God collapsed in Uzama Street, Uzebu quarters in Egor local government area of Edo State today September 19th.

The residents were not happy that the church authorities refused to call for rescue operations hours after the building collapsed.

The residents blamed the church for using individuals to destroy the church instead of hiring a bulldozer.

A bus belonging to the church was set ablaze, while the youths vandalized the church properties.

Officials of the church reportedly ran away after the building came down.

The building served as offices and residential building for the church officials.

Nine workers were said to be working inside the church, but three went out to buy food few minutes before the incident.

Three out of the six workers trapped in the building were rescued alive but with bruises and broken limbs, while one was brought out dead.

Two others were still trapped in the debris at the time of filling this report.

Sick mum left baby to starve to death while she went out partying for 2 weeks

19 year old Russian woman Alyona Ipatova (pictred left) who left her five-month-old baby to starve to death while she went out partying for two weeks has been sentenced to a minimum of 10 years' hard labour. Alyona, dubbed 'Monster mum' by Russian media admitted in court to leaving her baby alone in her apartment in Russia and went partying for two whole weeks with friends.

Prosecutors said when the teen got back, she found her infant daughter(pictured right) dead. Continue

"I really regret what I did. I did not want that to happen. I realise what I have done," she told the sentencing hearing.

Her lawyer claimed she had asked the child's father to help look after their daughter.

"Yes, she left the child at times. Although she left her, sometimes she came back in the morning or the father was at home, so he could still look after the girl," he claimed.

Her lawyer wanted the court to change the charge from 'murder of a minor with cruelty' to 'causing death by negligence' but the judge rejected the plea and sentenced her to 10 years hard labour.

Husband and wife shot to death on their wedding eve @ Enugu

“The heart of men is wicked. A man and woman set to be joined in holy matrimony in Enugu State on Friday shot dead by gunmen suspected to be cult members. Also, three other persons including the manager of a filling station were shot dead during the sporadic shooting by the unknown assailants who had laid siege on Abakpa and Trans-Ekulu area of Enugu.

The terrible incident occurred on Friday night at a filling station close to Dhamija Bridge opposite Our Lord’s Chosen Church, on the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway.

Sources said the heartless gunmen trailed the husband and wife, who were finalizing arrangements for their wedding that was to take place on Saturday, to the filling station where they stopped to buy petrol for their vehicle…

According to Vanguard, the gunmen, on arrival at the station, shot sporadically at the bride and groom who and they reportedly died on the spot. The manager of the filling station, a pump attendant and another person buying fuel at the time were also shot dead by the gunmen who immediately thereafter fled in their waiting vehicle.

Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident when contacted. 

He said, “There was an incident that led to the death of some people following sporadic shooting by suspected hoodlums before the arrival of security operatives and we have put measures on ground to unmask them.”

Dora Akunyili was one of the greatest being God created. He moulded her into the womb of her Mama who eventually gave birth to her over 50 years ago in Makurdi, Benue State, but brought up in Nanka,Anambra State in Nigeria.

Late Dr. Dora lived an exemplary life. I likened her to "Dora the Explorer". An epitome of what Nigerian citizen should be. A fearless woman. The woman of her own words. A patriotic politician.

Even before she was appointed as the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Akunyili, a pharmacist and academic, made the news when she returned unspent funds to the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), where she served as the South East Zonal Secretary. On assumption of office at NAFDAC, Akunyili confronted the entrenched mafia of fake drug importers and miraculously escaped assassination on two occasions. Her eight-year tenure in the Agency made Nigeria a reference point in the global war against fake drugs, for which she missed being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize very narrowly in 2007.

When she was appointed Minister for Information and National Orientation, Dora Akunyili launched a campaign to rebrand Nigeria and Nigerians. She introduced the slogan "Good People, Great Nation".

One of the most profound contributions of this great woman was her brave clamour for the right things to be done when a pall of secrecy was cast over the true situation of the health of former President Umaru Yar' Adua. She insisted on full disclosure, and courted the displeasure of Yar' Adua's inner cabinet. She was one of those whose actions moved the hands of the establishment to allow then Vice President Goodluck Jonathan assume full power.

Late Dr. Dora Akunyili's love for her dear nation still made her answered the call to serve Nigeria as a Delegate to the defunct National Conference, until she had to be flown abroad for medical attention where she gave up.

Nigerians will never eat her name and excrete it. Dr. Dora Akunyili's name will never be forgotten because she died serving Nigeria.

There are others who will forever live on. Their names will be written in history book. Someone like Patrick Sawyer who gave Nigerians a free pack of EBOLA. We will forever remember you. I don't need to say there is God o! You must have met God by now.

History will not also forget that over 200 Chibok girls were abducted during GoodLuck Ebele Jonathan's administration. We're still hoping that they will return today. Whether Boko Haram is Islamic or unIslamic, their names will never be forgotten even if we capture them tonight.We will also praise the likes of Dr. Oby Ezekwelisi and her team of #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS.

Although she's still young but hajia Sekinah Adeyemi, a mechanical engineering student is a woman with great vision impacting lives through a non-profit organization, AIESEC. Mariam Adeoye is another young hajia who believes so much in justice and decided to write a constitution for her school before she graduated this year.

You know I have lived long enough that I have met great people like Sulaimon Aledeh, Jubril Folami, Mayokun Akpoterabor, Simon Ateba, Ibrahim Fatoyinbo, Ojebola Mathew, Tene John, Deji Oladoye, Jide Johnson amongst others who are dear to my heart. If you see me now I have grown more beards and in the nearest future I would like to be seen and when I'm gone as a great radio drama producer, news programme director, news anchor, script writer, international broadcaster and above all, a liberal Muslim scholar who impacted lives positively.
